What is a site map?
A site map is a page on your site that lists the contents and shows the structure of a website, to aid in navigation.
How can site maps help my website?
Site maps can help users find what they're looking for on your site.
Site maps allow you to organize your site and to see your site in a single glance.
Site maps help search engines find your pages. If the major search engines are ignoring your pages, a site map can help. How do you know if you're being overlooked? Run a search for the top keywords for your site. If your pages aren't showing up in the top 100 results, a site map could help. A site map is generally a good idea because it not only helps search engines find your site, but it also helps index it faster.
Instructions on how to add a site map to your site:
- Login to your site at http://login.webpiston.com.
- Click on "Add A Page Assistant"

- You are going to want to start a new page, so enter in the name of the page in the page name box and click the "Create Page" button. In this example, the new page is called newpage.html.

- On the next page, you will be adding the keywords, page title and link name. The most important item here is the link name. That is what is going to show up on your site as a link for people to click to access the page.

- The next page will show you where the new page will go on the left side of your site. Click the "Next" button at the top right of the page. You might have to scroll over to the right to see this button.
- Now we will add some text to the page. Click the "Add A Paragraph" button.

- Choose if you want an image for your page and click Next.
- On the next page, in the Heading, you could type in, "Site Map". In the Content box type in the name of your pages. For example, Home, Contact Us, About Us, etc.

- Now you have to make links for each page. Highlight the name of the page and click the "Insert Web Link" icon.

- In the "URL:" field, type in your domain name starting with http://www and after that put in the file name of the page. In the example below, we are making a link for the home page. When you are done click the "OK" button.

- Click the "Next" button when you are finished making links for all your pages. You will see a preview of your Site Map page. Click the "Continue" button at the top right of the page.
- Click "Next" and click "Continue" at the top right of the page. Then click either the "Publish Changes" button or the "Finish" button.
